Not sure where to start?

The early decisions shape everything that follows. Getting them right saves weeks later.

Choosing a topic

Narrow a broad interest into a focused, researchable question that fits your word count, your data access and your timeline.

Writing your proposal

Shape your aims, objectives, rationale and outline methodology into a proposal your supervisor can say yes to.

Ethics applications

Understand what your ethics committee looks for, and describe participants, consent and data handling clearly.

Building a timeline

Plan backwards from submission, with milestones for reading, data collection, analysis, writing and revision.

Support for every part of your dissertation

Whatever chapter you’re on, we can help you understand what it needs to do and give feedback on your draft.

  • Title page and abstract Summarise your question, method, findings and contribution within the word limit.
  • Introduction Set out the context, research problem, aims and the route the dissertation will take.
  • Literature review Search systematically, organise by theme and move from summary to synthesis and critique.
  • Methodology Justify your design, sampling, data collection and analysis, and be honest about limitations.
  • Results or findings Present data clearly in tables and figures, and report statistics or themes accurately.
  • Discussion Interpret your findings against the literature, explaining what they do and don’t show.
  • Conclusion and recommendations Answer your research question directly and suggest credible next steps.
  • References and appendices Consistent referencing in your required style, and appendices that support rather than pad.

Chapter feedback

Written comments on a chapter or full draft: argument, structure, coherence, use of literature and referencing.

Methods and analysis coaching

Help choosing and running the right analysis yourself, then interpreting what the output means.

Final proofread

What we won’t do

Clear limits protect you. Everything we offer is designed to sit within UK academic integrity rules. Read our integrity policy.

  • We don’t write chapters, sections or summaries of your dissertation.
  • We don’t collect, invent or analyse data on your behalf.
  • We don’t replace your supervisor. If your university asks you to declare support such as proofreading, we’ll give you a short statement of what we did.

Students we’ve helped

In their words

“I had done the research, but bringing my dissertation together felt overwhelming. OxfordHelpers helped me spot gaps, organize my chapters, and strengthen my referencing. Their clear, practical feedback made the revisions manageable, and I finally felt confident about submitting my work. The result was a polished, thoroughly researched dissertation with clear arguments and careful referencing, and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome.”

George MSc student

“With my deadline approaching, I needed more than a quick spellcheck. OxfordHelpers picked up unclear wording, inconsistent references, and mistakes I had overlooked. The editing was thorough, communication was straightforward, and I submitted on time without losing my own voice.”

Alia PhD scholar

“I understood the topic, but my essay wasn’t making a convincing argument. OxfordHelpers helped me see where my reasoning needed work and how to connect my ideas. The explanations made a real difference, I finished with a stronger essay and a better understanding of how to approach the next one.”

FAQs

Dissertation support: common questions

Will my supervisor mind me getting dissertation support?

Universities expect students to use support. Writing centres, study-skills tutors and proofreaders are all common. Some universities ask you to declare third-party proofreading; if yours does, we’ll give you a short statement describing exactly what we did.

Can you give feedback on my whole dissertation?

Yes. We can read a full draft and give structured written feedback on argument, structure, coherence, use of sources and presentation. Longer documents take more time, so get in touch well before your deadline.

Do you support Master’s and PhD students?

We support undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. Tell us your level, subject and stage when you enquire, and we’ll confirm we have the right person before you commit.

Can you proofread my dissertation?

Yes, within the usual UK university rules. We flag spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting and clarity issues, and we don’t change your content, arguments or structure. If your university has its own proofreading policy, send it and we’ll follow it.

How much does dissertation support cost?

It depends on the type of support and how much of the project it covers. A one-off proposal session costs far less than ongoing coaching. You’ll get a fixed quote before anything starts.
