Technical reports

Clear specifications, testing and evaluation for engineering and computing projects.

Placement and reflective reports

Connect your experience to theory using recognised reflective models such as Gibbs or Kolb.

Research reports

Present a small-scale study clearly, from rationale and method through to limitations.

Policy and briefing papers

Concise, evidence-led writing for a non-specialist decision-maker.

The anatomy of a strong report

Exact headings vary by discipline, but most marked reports follow this shape.

  • Executive summary The whole report in miniature: purpose, key findings and recommendations. Written last, read first.
  • Introduction and scope What the report covers, why it matters and what it deliberately leaves out.
  • Method or approach How information was gathered or analysed, so readers can judge how reliable it is.
  • Findings Evidence presented logically, with headings, tables and figures that are easy to scan.
  • Discussion or analysis What the findings mean, linked back to theory or to the brief.
  • Conclusions and recommendations Specific, prioritised actions that follow directly from the evidence.
  • References and appendices Sources cited consistently, with detailed data moved to the appendices.

What we won’t do

Clear limits protect you. Everything we offer is designed to sit within UK academic integrity rules. Read our integrity policy.

  • We don’t write reports, sections or executive summaries for you to submit.
  • We don’t invent data, sources or findings.
  • We don’t promise grades.

Students we’ve helped

In their words

“I had done the research, but bringing my dissertation together felt overwhelming. OxfordHelpers helped me spot gaps, organize my chapters, and strengthen my referencing. Their clear, practical feedback made the revisions manageable, and I finally felt confident about submitting my work. The result was a polished, thoroughly researched dissertation with clear arguments and careful referencing, and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome.”

George MSc student

“With my deadline approaching, I needed more than a quick spellcheck. OxfordHelpers picked up unclear wording, inconsistent references, and mistakes I had overlooked. The editing was thorough, communication was straightforward, and I submitted on time without losing my own voice.”

Alia PhD scholar

“I understood the topic, but my essay wasn’t making a convincing argument. OxfordHelpers helped me see where my reasoning needed work and how to connect my ideas. The explanations made a real difference, I finished with a stronger essay and a better understanding of how to approach the next one.”

FAQs

Report writing support: common questions

What’s the difference between an essay and a report?

An essay builds one continuous argument. A report is organised into labelled sections so readers can find information quickly, and it usually ends with recommendations. We’ll help you adjust your structure and tone to match.

Can you help me with my executive summary?

We’ll show you how to distil a report into a strong summary and give feedback on your version. The summary itself needs to be written by you.

Can you proofread my report?

Yes, within your university’s proofreading policy. We flag language, formatting and consistency issues and leave content decisions to you.

Do you help with apprenticeship and work-based reports?

Yes. Degree apprenticeship and work-based learning reports are assessed work too, so we apply the same approach: tutoring, feedback and proofreading within your programme’s rules.
